Stephen started his career as an actor, and boasts an impressive CV, which includes roles in ‘Romper Stomper’ (Feature Film), ‘The Wogboy’ (Feature Film), ‘The Last Bullet’ (Feature film), ‘The Flying Doctors’ (Nine) ‘Phoenix’ (ABC), and ‘Neighbours’ (Ten). He has recently played Bert Newton in the made-for-TV movie ‘The King’ (TV1, Nine), and the Undersecretary Warren, in ABC-TV’s popular ‘The Hollowmen’.

On stage, he has performed in a wide range of productions, most recently playing Sir Lancelot (and 3 other roles!) in the Australian production of ‘Monty Python’s Spamalot’.

TV Comedy Writer

Stephen is also an experienced and sought-after TV comedy writer, with credits on ‘Full Frontal’ (Seven), ‘BackBerner’ (ABC), ‘Russell Gilbert Was Here’ (Nine), ‘Comedy Inc’ (Nine), and most recently ‘Newstopia’ (SBS). He was one of the head writers on the AFI award-nominated ‘Big Bite’ (Seven).

Stephen has written extensively for light entertainment television too, on programs such as ‘Spicks and Specks’ (ABC), ‘Australia’s Got Talent’ (Seven), ‘The ARIA Awards’ (Ten), ‘It Takes Two’ (Seven) ‘The AFI Awards’ (Ovation), ‘The Einstein Factor’ (ABC), ‘In Melbourne Tonight’ (Nine), ‘The Biggest Loser Finale’ (Ten), and ‘The 50th Annual TV Week Logie Awards’ (Nine).

He also served as writer, and then producer, on ‘Deal Or No Deal’ (Seven).

Quizmaster For Hire

Australian TV audiences will be familiar with Stephen as one of the biggest game show winners in Australian TV history, with his winning “the lot” on the Nine Network’s top-rating ‘Temptation’ in 2005. Since then, he has also won the title of “Australia’s Brainiest Quiz Master” on the program entitled (surprisingly) ‘Australia’s Brainiest Quiz Master’ (Ten). Quizzing and trivia are specialties of Stephen’s, and he has written and verified questions for TV shows such as ‘1 vs. 100′ (Nine), ‘The Rich List’ (Seven), ‘Spicks and Specks’ (ABC), and ‘The Con Test’ (Ten).  This cemented his position as a regular member of “The Brains Trust” on ABC-TV’s ‘The Einstein Factor’, and has also seen Stephen in demand as an engaging and entertaining host of corporate trivia nights.

“Stephen was a fine professional Master of Ceremonies for our trivia night. The questions he wrote were well-pitched to the particular type of audience and there was intelligent humour interspersed throughout the event. It made for a most enjoyable evening.”
Liz Jakubowski – National ICT Australia Limited

In addition to all of this, Stephen has co-written and performed in several Melbourne International Comedy Festival shows, including ‘I Said I Said,’ which, in 2001, won the coveted Moosehead Award for Innovative Comedy.

He has also appeared in TV commercials, written and performed for radio, written librettos for musical theatre, sung professionally and been employed as a professional character voice actor – all in all, an incredible career, that continues to go from strength to strength!
